Research of Enhancing Laparoscopic Surgical Instruments with Biocompatible Hydrophilic Coating

The proposal focuses on improving laparoscopic surgical instruments by applying a biocompatible hydrophilic ceramic coating. The key goals are to:

  • Reduce friction between surgical tools and tissue.

  • Improve the durability, maneuverability, and overall performance of the instruments.

  • Enhance patient outcomes by minimizing tissue trauma and postoperative complications.

In terms of the methodology, we thoroughly researched the manufacturing process for a hydrophilic ceramic coating as well as testing and evaluation to determine the friction and biocompatibility of the coating. The full report can be downloaded below.
